What is the Vignobles & Découvertes label?

The Vignobles & Découvertes label is awarded by Atout France (French tourism development agency) for 3 years. The idea behind the label is to unite the network and promote new and current approved products in line with what wine tourism visitors expect nowadays. The label makes it easier for end clients to plan their break and focus on approved services.

The Sancerre – Pouilly – Giennois destination in the Centre-Loire region works together with the local tourism and winemaking industry to provide a quality, appealing and all-encompassing range of things to see and do to explore the destination’s designations and vineyards.

We work together to promote our destination so you can experience the many cultural and wine tourism aspects of our land and the great hospitality provided by our Vignobles & Découvertes-approved businesses.

Pouilly

The Pouilly-Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire vineyards lie on the right bank of the Loire in the Nièvre département. The designation only makes white wine from the following grape varieties:

  • Sauvignon blanc for the Pouilly-Fumé designation
  • Chasselas for the Pouilly-sur-Loire designation
  • On clay-silica soil.

The vineyard covers almost 1379 hectares with 135 producers.

Coteaux du Giennois

Sancerre

Sancerre is a hilly region bordered by the left bank of the Loire. The designation lies in the heart of France in the Cher département and makes white, red and rosé wine in three main terroirs. From west to east, they are:

  • “terres blanches” (clay-limestone)
  • “caillottes” (chalk)
  • clay-silica soil

The Sancerre vineyard covers 3007 hectares with 285 producers.

Giennois

The Coteaux du Giennois AOC covers almost 50km on the north bank of the Loire, between Gien and Cosne-cours-sur-Loire.

The designation makes white, red and rosé wine from three varietals: Sauvignon blanc for white Coteaux du Giennois and Pinot Noir and Gamay for red and rosé Coteaux du Giennois.

The vineyard covers 179ha with 34 producers.
